Dave O’Connor, Ph.D.
Dave is a UW Medical Foundation Professor at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. He has run a successful research laboratory since 2005, studying how viruses including HIV, Zika virus, and SARS-CoV-2 cause disease. He is also an Honorary professorial fellow at the University of Melbourne, where he was previously a Miegunyah Distinguished Visiting Fellow. He has been quoted extensively in the media, including by The Guardian, The New York Times, Washington Post, Science, Nature, and the NBC Nightly News.
Shelby O’Connor, Ph.D.
Shelby is a Professor at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Her laboratory has studied infectious pathogens, like HIV, M. tuberculosis, and SARS-CoV-2, for the past 12 years. Shelby is the Faculty Director for the Biocore program at UW. She is also an Honorary Principal Fellow at the University of Melbourne. She specializes in building bridges between community outreach, education, basic research, and public health.
